It's no secret that Filipinos go crazy over the three Bs: boxing, basketball, and beauty queens.
The Philippines is currently holding an exemplary track record with 15 victories at the "Big Four" international pageants: Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth.
The pageant season has already started in the country with the Binibining Pilipinas pageant hailing Cebuana Gazini Ganados as the new Miss Universe Philippines on June 19.
On July 10, Filipino-Italian model Celeste Cortesi passed on the Miss Earth Philippines title to another aspiring beauty queen.
In September, Katarina Rodriguez will relinquish her Miss World Philippines crown to another deserving candidate.
Through the years, the country has produced amazing beauty queens, many of whom have started their own families.
Will the daughters of former Filipina beauty queens follow in the footsteps of their moms? Only time will tell!
Atasha Muhlach
Atasha Muhlach is the daughter of Binibining Pilipinas Universe 1994 Charlene Gonzales and husband Aga Muhlach, and the granddaughter of Binibining Pilipinas 1964 runner-up Elvira Gonzales.
Charlene and Elvira made history in local pageantry as the first mother and daughter to join the Binibining Pilipinas contest.
Atasha and her twin brother, Andres Muhlach, are finishing their high school studies at the Brent International School Manila in Biñan, Laguna.
Atasha is part of her school's basketball team.
For college, she plans to take up business management at a school in the United Kingdom.
Michelle Dee
Michelle Dee is the daughter of Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez with businessman Frederick Dee.
The buzz is that Michelle is planning to join the Miss World Philippines pageant this year.
Michelle is a model also currently trying her luck in the entertainment industry and has signed up with the ALV Talent Circuit and GMA Artist Center.
Michelle is also an endorser of one of the country's biggest clothing brand. In college, Michelle studied Psychology at the De La Salle University in Manila.
Lorin Bektas
Lorin Bektas is the eldest daughter of Miss World 1993 second runner-up Ruffa Gutierrez with her ex-husband Yilmaz Bektas.
In a previous interview with PEP.ph, Lorin said she is more interested in pursuing a career as an actress than becoming a beauty queen.
She said, "Right now, I'm doing some acting in school and doing productions. Honestly, I'm really enjoying it. I'm learning so about acting and it's really something I find passion in."
Her mom echoed, "She's thinking more about college. Happy ako na ganun."
Lorin is currently a high school student at the British School Manila in Taguig City.
Earlier this month, she flew to the United States, where she will take up a business-related course in "one of the top-ranked economics institutes in the world."
She is currently spending one month in California for her pre-college studies.
Ashley Subijano Montenegro
Ashley Victoria Subijano Montenegro is the daughter of Binibining Pilipinas World 1994 Cara Subijano-Wong and former husband TV host Hans Montenegro.
Ashley grew up with her mom in California; she now lives in the Philippines and is currently a student at Enderun Colleges in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Ashley has also been working as a part-time model for over a year under Ideal People Model Management. She has walked the runways of Philippine Fashion Week and Manila Fashion Festival.
Last year, Ashley was also named as one of Filipino fashion designer Randy Ortiz's "millennial muses."
Sarina Santiago
Sarina Santiago is the daughter of Binibining Pilipinas Universe 1989 Sarah Jane Paez-Santiago.
Sarina is currently finishing her college studies at the Boston University. She is now on her senior year in the university taking up Business Administration with a major in Marketing.
Sarina returned briefly to the Philippines to spend her summer vacation in the country. In May, she was spotted as one of the sagalas at the Manila Hotel's Flores De Mayo. Later that month, she did a shoot with fashion photographer Jan Garcia.
Earlier this month, Sarina returned to the US for a marketing internship in New York City.
According to her mom, "I don't think she will join Binibini....she is not interested...for now."
Gabrielle Lauren
Gabrielle Lauren is the only daughter of Binibining Pilipinas World 1996 Daisy Reyes with her former husband, Indian businessman Raza Igqbal. She is currently a high school student.
Leila Alcasid
Leila Alcasid is the eldest daughter of Ogie Alcasid and Pinay-at-heart, Miss Universe Australia 1994 Michelle Van Eimeren.
At present, Leila is following in the footsteps of her dad in the music industry. In February 2018, she launched her first single "Completely In Love."
In March, she was launched as one of the new faces of 2018 Star Magic Circle.
According to Ogie, his daughter's heart is in music.
He told ABS-CBN in an interview, "Well, sabi naman niya nirerespeto niya ang mga beauty queen. Siyempre nanay naman niya beauty queen din kaya lang yung puso niya I think is in music, and she also wants to do acting. So 'yon ang gusto niyang gawin."
