David Beckham Saved The Train Ticket Victoria Beckham Wrote Her Number On In 1997

There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t be shipping David and Victoria Beckham. Aside from obviously being two insanely attractive people with four beautiful children, did you know that David and Victoria have been married for more than 20 YEARS? Insane, TBH. And because they’re still madly in love with each other all these years later, David thought it would be nice to recount the moment he and Victoria met for us hopeless romantics.

David appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and dished all the details of his and Victoria’s fateful meeting back in 1997. “She came to watch me in a [Manchester United] game in London with her manager at the time, and one of the other Spice Girls, Sporty Spice,” he said. “We all had our favorite Spice Girl…[Victoria] was obviously my favorite. It might be a bit awkward if [she] wasn’t.”

Although David didn’t get to formally talk to her that day, Victoria watched him play in another game the following week. “She’d had a couple of drinks. So I decided, ‘Why not? I’ll try and get her number,’” David recalled. “We talked for about an hour in the players’ lounge. Then, she actually got the train up that day, so she wrote her number down on her train ticket, which I still have.” WOW, okay, please give me a sec to dry my tears!!!

And as they say, the rest is history: David and Victoria started dating later that year, got engaged in 1998, and officially tied the knot in 1999. God bless this couple for reminding me that happily ever afters do exist!
