A little over a month after Demi Lovato's overdose, sources say she's doing better and is fully committed to recuperating.
"She's in recovery and doing great," the source told People, adding, "This is a long road."
The singer was rushed to the hospital from her home on July 24. She was released the weekend of August 4, and from there she checked herself into a rehab facility outside the state of California. At one point, she took a trip to Chicago to meet with specialists, sources said.
The weekend of her transition from the hospital to rehab, she posted an emotional message on Instagram thanking fans for their love and support. "I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting."
A source told People that she understands the severity of what happened, and the recovery has been challenging for her.
"She wants to be sober. She wants to get help. She understands that it will take a lot of work and commitment to stay healthy, but this is what she wants," the source added at the time.
