Showbiz royalties Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera have the perfect family together with their gorgeous children, Zia and Sixto. In a guesting at Slater Young and Kryz Uy’s Skypodcast, Dingdong shared about his life as a dad during the pandemic and revealed his thoughts on their kids following their footsteps in the entertainment industry.
Known as one of the country’s most bankable celebs, Dingdong shares that the lockdown has enabled him and Marian to do some of their shoots at home, which perfectly works for them. “You feel more safe and secure at home, provided na dapat andun lang lahat ng kailangan mo,” he says.
Dingdong loves to produce his own films too and admits to shooting a few fun clips with his family in their free time. “Ako kasi trip ko ‘yan eh, yung mga homemade videos dito. Minsan ‘pag wala kami magawa, ako, si Marian yung wife ko, my kids, I shoot them. Sometimes I create these makeup scenarios,” he shares, opening up about one of their favorite quarantine activities.

As of now, he says the videos are for their eyes only. “Yung mga nasa Youtube, official content siya. Meaning it is part of a commitment, you know, we partnered with certain brands, and then we created something. Pero mas madami yung trip lang talaga, pero wala do’n! Nasa phonebook ko lang ganon.”
He also gushes about an instance when he totally doted on his little six-year old girl Zia’s ~vlogging~ skills.
“Minsan wala ako, pinakielamanan niya [his laptop]. Tapos alam niya yung video eh, kung pano i-click yung video, tapos kinuha nya yung gitara. Tapos nag-ano siya, parang nag-vlog! Sabi niya, ‘Okay. This is my dad’s laptop, he doesn’t know I’m using it, so I’m gonna sing a song’. Basta, ang haba! Tapos, pinanood ko, di ko alam kung magagalit ako kasi yung gitara ko tumatama, pero at the same time, nahumaling ako sa mga sinasabi niya, my heart just melted.” Aww, how adorable!
He also revealed that singing is one of Zia’s growing interests. He says, “Mukhang trip niya eh. Na-appreciate niya yung mga local singers natin.” Currently, Zia is enrolled in a class with a vocal coach to hone her skills.
When asked by Slater if they were ever averse to having their kids joining showbiz in the future, Dingdong admits that it’s still an ongoing debate for them, but they’re clear on where the priority is. “Clear kami na basta, kailangan aral muna yung kids. And I mean, when they decide to do so, or if they decide to do so, sige. Basta as long as we already presented options to them, and then kung talagang trip nila, syempre susuportahan namin.”
