Many local celebrities have been exploring new opportunities outside the Philippines—and while we will miss them dearly, we're also excited about their new lives abroad! ICYMI, actress and host Donita Rose has officially moved back to the US and is now working as the Corporate Research and Development Chef of Island Pacific Market, an Asian supermarket chain. She's been in charge of developing new recipes for the company!
Donita Rose on moving back to the US
In December 2020, Donita talked about moving with her son in the show Mars Pa More: "When I was in the Philippines, siyempre, because of the lockdown, it was just very difficult for us. I was a bit stressed out. Eventually, I realized na parang at this point in our lives, dapat maging malapit sa family. Kasi wala akong pamilya doon e. For the past 30 years that I've been in the business, my whole family has been here."
"My brother asked me, 'Come back home and come stay with us for now until you decide what you really wanna do.' So wala kaming ginagawa dito kundi tumawa nang tumawa nang tumawa, every single day." Donita also talked about getting an offer for her dream job, which meant she had to move away from her family in the Bay Area. "Pinag-iisipan ko kung kaligayahan o pera."
Rufa Mae Quinto (who is currently staying in the US as well) and Donita met up for lunch in March 2021, and in Rufa's vlog, Donita said that she moved to the US six months ago. Rufa Mae also attended Donita's despedida dinner in April, before Donita moved to Las Vegas.
Donita studied at the Academy for International Culinary Arts (AICA) and earned her degree in 2012. She also hosted a cooking show on GMA-7! Her most recent local film is the 2017 family drama Seven Sundays.
