Dove's Real Beauty Film Goes Viral

Dove's new Real Beauty Sketches film has become the second most-seen new YouTube video after Psy's "Gangnam Style."

Dove's new viral campaign is taking YouTube by storm.

The beauty giant's Real Beauty Sketches film has been viewed by more than 6.5 million people in three days, becoming the second most-seen new video after Psy's dance track sensation "Gangnam Style."

Dove enlisted the services of police forensic artist Gil Zamora to draw images of seven women purely from their self descriptions, proving that most self-critical women can't see the beauty in themselves.

Gil said: "When I was asked to be a part of the film for Dove, I never imagined how different the two sketch portrayals would be.

"What has stayed with me are the emotional reactions the women had when they viewed the composite sketches hung side by side.

"I think many of these brave women realized that they had a distorted self-perception that had affected parts of their lives in significant ways."

The women spent time with a stranger before being sketched and the artist then draws the strangers' descriptions of the women—to dramatically different results.

Dove's Nick Wilcher commented: "We conducted this social experiment and produced a film to reinforce our commitment to fostering self-esteem in women."
