Rihanna turned 29 on Monday and in her honor, former boo Aubrey Drake Graham gave her a special shout-out during his show in Dublin. Instead of giving the people what they want (any of these would have sufficed: announcing that they’re back together; a surprise performance by Rihanna; cake), Drake talked about the birthday girl on stage. “It’s somebody’s birthday today. She’s someone I have a lot of love for and a lot of respect for.” The crowd went wild, of course, as there was no doubt that he was talking about Rihanna. Instead of singing “Happy Birthday,” because Drake isn’t about traditional birthday celebrations, it seems, he performed his parts of their song, “Work.”

Rihanna and Drake’s on-and-off relationship fizzled in October after what was otherwise an exciting few months of #AubRih. In August, he presented Rihanna with the Video Vanguard award at the VMAs. That night, Drake professed his love on stage for RiRi, who may or may not have dodged a kiss from him on live television.
From there, they got couple-y (with a shark from a reported aquarium date night in Toronto) on Instagram:
And even straight-up kissed on stage at a show in Miami:
Happy birthday, Rihanna. Thanks for giving Drake an excuse to once again profess his eternal love for you.
