You know how everyone loves HBO because it's basically a free-for-all? Like, it truly is the network that will serve you a bare butt, a line of cocaine, and an F-bomb-laden monologue all within the first five minutes of a show. And although it seems like the network gives zero damns, the upcoming show Euphoria just discovered that HBO actually does have boundaries. What could ever be so scandalous that it can't be shown on HBO, you ask? More than 100 penises, that's what.
Apparently, the second episode will include tons of penises...and there were originally way more. Euphoria creator Sam Levinson told the Hollywood Reporter there's a locker room scene that focuses on an athlete named Nate (Jacob Elordi, our next internet boyfriend). It's supposed to be a riff on the infamous locker room scene from Carrie...but the network thought it was too risqué, so it made some changes. Read: There were too many penises. Levinson says the original scene included "like, 80 more." Nice!
An editor at Decider counted how many Ds actually made the cut. She confirmed there were at least 17 but says there could be more hanging out in the mix. The Hollywood Reporter counted 30 throughout the whole second episode.
Not to keep harping on this, but...I've crunched some numbers I'd like to share with you. If there are currently about 30 penises in the episode that will air but there were originally 80 more, that means there were supposed to be more than 110 penises total. Again, that is So! Many! Penises!
Tim Winter, president of Parents Television Council, says that Euphoria "appears to be overtly, intentionally marketing extremely graphic adult content—sex, violence, profanity, and drug use—to teens and preteens." I mean...he's not completely wrong. Have you seen the trailer? It low-key has more drugs than Coachella weekend one.
Personally, I'm insanely excited for this show to premiere. It looks like an even better version of Degrassi or Skins, and I can't wait to watch every episode a million times. Also, I can't stop thinking about the matching Louis Vuitton set Maddy (Alexa Demie) is wearing in the trailer. This series gets me more hyped over a single wardrobe choice than I get over entire seasons of other shows, TBH.
I'm pretty sure Instagram cracks down on penises even harder than HBO does, so I'll leave you with this very hot but also safe-for-work video of Jacob Elordi.
Oh, and here's a picture of him in the shower!
Euphoria premieres at 11 p.m. June 17 on HBO.
