It's all in the RAM.

If you're still using your trusty old 1st or 2nd Generation iPhone, chances are it's not as efficient as it used to be. Apps may take longer to open, internet browsing may be slower, or worse, it just completely hangs and you have to reset it over and over again.

2. Hold the power button down until "Slide to Power Off" appears.

3. Release the power button and hold down the Home button for five seconds.

After a few seconds, your screen will turn blank and then return to the "Home" screen, which means you've successfully cleared your iPhone's RAM. Clearing RAM is like emptying your PC's Recycle Bin—the information that's cleared isn't needed, so resetting the RAM frees up usable memory on your iPhone. With less useless information to process through, your iPhone is as good as new!
