Nothing hurts more than falling for someone who doesn't love you back—especially if that someone is your super-close buddy whom you've known for years, right? Sometimes they reciprocate your feelings...sometimes they don't. 

Here are six local movies that *perfectly* depict the bond (and sometimes complicated feelings) between best friends: 

1. My Amanda (2021) 

The sitch: This upcoming movie will drop on Netflix on July 15, 2021! According to the streaming site, "My Amanda tells the story of unusually close best friends TJ and Amanda, with pet names 'Fuffy' and 'Fream,' respectively, as they go through the motions of their relationship as long-time best friends while dealing with their own complicated relationships." 2. Labs Kita, Okey Ka Lang? (1998) 

Iconic line: "Yes, kaibigan mo 'ko...kaibigan mo lang ako. And I'm so stupid to make the biggest mistake of falling in love with my best friend!"

The sitch: College students Bujoy (Jolina Magdangal) and Ned (Marvin Agustin) are next-door neighbors and have been best friends since forever. Bujoy's hidden feelings for Ned surface when he starts courting an old friend of hers who's new in town, and Ned starts getting jealous when Bujoy dates one of his bandmates.

3. Paano Na Kaya (2010)

The sitch: When Bogs (Gerald Anderson) breaks up with his longtime girlfriend Anna (Melissa Ricks), his best friend Mae (Kim Chiu) does her best to help him move on. Mae has been hiding her feelings for him for years. Bogs eventually finds space in his heart for Mae, and things go smoothlyuntil Anna comes back to try to fix things with him.

4. She's The One (2013)

Iconic line: "Promise mo sa'kin, okay? Kahit ano'ng mangyari, forever tayong magiging magkaibigan. I'll be that one guy who never breaks up with you and you will be that one girl who will never break up with me."

The sitch: Wacky (Dingdong Dantes) and Cat (Bea Alonzo) are childhood best friends. Now working adults, Cat is totally in love with Wacky, but he doesn't seem to feel the same way. One day, a younger guy named David (Enrique Gil) sees Cat fixing her car under the pouring rain, and takes a video of her that turns viral on the internet. He falls in love with her instantly and calls her his "Girl in the Rain."

5. Must Be...Love (2013) 

Iconic line: "May babaeng bine-bestfriend, at may babaeng gini-girlfriend." 

The sitch: The film follows the love story of teenagers Patricia (Kathryn Bernardo), who is better known as "Patchot or Patch," and her childhood best friend, Ivan (Daniel Padilla). Patch starts to have feelings for Ivan, but he really only sees her as a best friend. Things start to escalate when Ivan falls for her cousin Angel (Liza Soberano).

6. I'm Drunk, I Love You (2017)

Iconic line: "Bakit ka ba sorry nang sorry wala ka namang kasalanan. 'Di mo naman kasalanan kung 'di mo ko mahal."

The sitch: Carson (Maja Salvador) has been in love with her best bud Dio (Paulo Avelino) for seven years. Right before they graduate from college, the two take a trip to La Union where they encounter an old flame of Dio's and where Carson has to make a choice whether to admit her true feelings for him or keep them inside forever.
