  • The last season of Game of Thrones is officially here.
  • The show finally revealed what happened to Ed Sheeran's character, and it's pretty gruesome.

It's been two years since Ed Sheeran appeared in the seventh season of Game of Thrones, but the North—and the GoT fandom—remembers. Now that the show is finally back, HBO revealed what happened to his controversial character, and the network did him so dirty, you guys.

If Ed's cameo doesn't play over and over again in your mind like it does in mine, just remember that he had the tiniest, most inconsequential part in the show. However, his role as a singing Lannister soldier who offers Arya Stark some food while she's heading to King's Landing attracted so much hate. Like, he actually had to delete his Twitter account because people were being so mean to him. At the time, he took to Instagram to write, "Had to get off it completely, wasn't doing anything good for anyone's sanity. I'm gonna be more present on here and work out things we can all do as a fan base. Love you all, you all rule x."

Ed was really only onscreen for that one scene, but HBO took a second during last night's premiere to reveal what ended up happening to his character. In the scene where Bronn was about to have sex with three women, a battle between the Lannisters and the Targaryens were brought up. One of the women implied that Ed was attacked by Daenerys Targaryen's dragons and said, "That boy Eddie came back with his face burned right off. He's got no eyelids now." Ouch. At least he's still alive, right?

Ed previously said he wouldn’t be surprised if his character ended up being killed by dragons because everyone hated him so much. But even if he were expecting a dragon attack, it honestly sounds like one of the worst things that could happen to anyone on this show, so everyone pour out some blackberry wine for Ed.
