Kiana Valenciano is off to pursue a "new chapter" abroad. Gary Valenciano and his wife, talent manager Angeli Pangilinan, got emotional during the send-off for their only daughter.
On Tuesday, February 18, Gary and Angeli took to Instagram to share their last moments with Kiana before she flew to the United States.
Gary uploaded a slideshow video of his 27-year-old daughter packing her belongings and expressed how proud he is of her.
The 55-year-old performer wrote, "Proud of my Kiana. A new chapter in her life is being written. It's what I need to keep reminding myself as no parent ever gets used to saying goodbye to any of their children."
Towards the end of his post, Gary quoted the Bible verse Romans 8:28, which reads: "So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God's perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose."
For her part, Angeli got emotional knowing that her daughter will be embarking on her journey solo.
She wrote, "No words. Just a lot of tears. I offer a prayer for my daughter's journey. She ran away from all things popular all her life even if she was born to sing. She just wanted to find her identity. She wanted to sew and draw. She painted. She played soccer. She partied. She took [up] fashion design...And then she started to write and produce songs...and found herself...soar Kiana, and fly."
Angeli also reminded Kiana of her constant advice and requests.
She wrote, "With His Word tucked into your heart and mind, you will achieve His purpose and destiny for you. Step by step. I love you, Kwinks. See you sooner than soon."
"All my love, Mama."
The end of Angeli's post read, "Can't stop crying cuz I miss you already. I remember Kuya Gab when he left. Sometimes he would text me at 5 a.m. every day after school. Don't forget to Facetime (at the right time)!!!"
Gary and Angeli did not reveal how long Kiana plans to stay in the U.S., but she is set to perform at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival 2020, which runs from March 13 to 22 in Austin, Texas.
This isn't the first time Kiana pursued a project outside the Philippines. In 2015, she took short-term design courses at Central Saint Martins in the UK.
She returned to the country in 2016 and focused on her lifestyle pursuits. By 2017, Kiana went full-time as a singer-composer under Tarsier Records.
