Today, supermodel Gigi Hadid was revealed as a potential member of the jury in the Harvey Weinstein rape trial, which is currently taking place in New York.

Among 116 other potentials, Gigi was seen entering the Manhattan courtroom accompanied by security guards in the early hours of Monday morning, January 13.

After being questioned by judge James Burke on whether or not they felt able to jude Harvey Weinstein fairly, the 24-year-old complied, saying: "I think I’m still able to keep an open mind on the facts."

Hadid was also one of two people who raised their hand when asked whether or not they knew the defendant or member of the prosecution. "I have met Salma Hayek and possibly Ryan Beatty," she said.

Actor Salma Hayek accused Weinstein of sexual harassment after she turned down his advances. Gigi is also a friend of fellow model Cara Delevingne who has spoken openly about her experiences of sexual harassment from Harvey Weinstein.

The case, which sparked worldwide outrage and disgust, involved sexual harassment claims from nearly 100 women. Disgraced film producer Harvey has pleaded not guilty to five counts, including a forced sexual act in 2006 and rape in 2013.

It is yet to be confirmed whether Gigi will serve on the case and she is still required to return to the court on Thursday for further questioning.
