It's confirmed! Bb. Pilipinas 1st Runner-Up Herlene Budol is set to compete at her ~first~ international beauty pageant, Miss Planet International which is scheduled on November 19, 2022, in Uganda.
In an Instagram post, Miss Planet International confirmed the news on August 29 by sharing Herlene's headshot and full body photo wearing her Darna costume. According to the post, Miss Planet International's mission is aimed at promoting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
Each candidate will be given the opportunity to propose the creation of SDG 18. The pageant organization added, "We are to give the tools to our candidates to strengthen their social projects and make possible a necessary generational change in order to save our planet and save humanity on Earth."
In an interview with Pep.ph during a press conference for a beauty brand that Herlene is endorsing, the beauty queen said that she will be speaking in Tagalog and will opt to use an interpreter. "Opo, magta-Tagalog po talaga ako. Hindi nga ako nagkukunwari. Totoo nga ito! Hindi talaga ako marunong mag-English na isang straight-an."
Herlene's talent manager, Wilbert Tolentino first announced Herlene's intentions to join an international beauty pageant in August 2022. Expressing her enthusiasm, Herlene said, "Isisigaw ko ho doon at handang-handa na ho ako sumigaw ng 'Pilipinas!'"
