Remember back in 2018, (you know, the before times) when the whole world stopped and read the story about the fake heiress in NYC? Well, Netflix is officially releasing their TV adaptation, Inventing Anna, of that very wild story and it looks like it’s been worth the wait.
Ozark star Julia Garner stars as Anna Delvey, the fake German heiress who stayed in New York's best hotels and tricked everyone around her that she was a socialite. While she might be out of jail right now, the world hasn't forgotten what happened and now it's getting the Shondaland treatment.
In the first trailer for Inventing Anna, we can start to see how the original New York Magazine story got pieced together when Vivian, played by Anna Chlumsky, starts to realize that Anna's story might not be all that real. So what happened to her next? Well, you're going to want to tune in to find out. But at least we have this trailer to hold us over for now. Check it out below:
According to Netflix, "In Inventing Anna, a journalist with a lot to prove investigates the case of Anna Delvey, the Instagram-legendary German heiress who stole the hearts of New York's social scene—and stole their money as well. But is Anna New York's biggest con woman or is she simply the new portrait of the American dream? Anna and the reporter form a dark, funny, love-hate bond as Anna awaits trial and our reporter fights the clock to answer the biggest question in NYC: Who is Anna Delvey? The series is inspired by the New York Magazine article 'How an Aspiring 'It' Girl Tricked New York's Party People—and its Banks,' by Jessica Pressler, who also serves as a producer."
Unfortunately, the series won't be out until February 11, 2022, so we're going to have to wait a little bit longer until it comes out. But at least there will be plenty of other picks on Netflix to choose from as we wait for Inventing Anna to come out.
