ISIS has called for its supporters to attack the Miss Universe pageant which will be held in the Philippines early next year.
According to Fox News, this was communicated via the messenger group Telegram, in a thread called "IS Philippines supporters." The Fox News report stated there was a "downloadable video on how to assemble a suicide belt, as well as a 49-page guide in English on how to manufacture explosives."
The Department of Tourism (DOT) labeled the threat as something "serious," GMA News reported.
Still, it said the country can handle this especially since the Philippines has already hosted a high security risk event when Pope Francis visited last year.
The Philippine National Police for their part said they already have an intelligence group assigned to monitor developments in this possible threat.
The DOT announced last month that the Philippines will host the prestigious Miss Universe pageant in January 2017.
