The Indonesian version of It’s Showtime just aired its first episode today. The franchised show shares the same time slot, music score, and format, but is aired in Bahasa. In its first run, the Philippine and Indonesian version shared a live telecast of each other’s shows, making it an overall Asian celebration. Anne Curtis even tweeted about the joint celebration today. The simulcast trended on Twitter in both countries.
This Asian invasion comes after the recent local poll hailed It’s Showtime as leading the noontime ratings in the Philippines. According to the national TV ratings conducted by third-party surveying group Kantar Media, It’s Showtime leads the time slot with a viewer rate of 20.1 percent. This spot is a mile away from Eat Bulaga’s 10.4 percent and Dragon Lady’s 10 percent. Kantar Media is a market research firm in the Philippines specializing in broadcast media.
It seems like It’s Showtime is on a roll. Could this possibly be the start of global domination? We’ll have to wait and see, madlang people.
