  • Ellen is in the middle of a scandal after former staffers spoke out about the show's toxic workplace culture.

The world of talk shows is proving to be much more scandalous than we thought. According to a report from The Sun, James Corden might be in talks to replace Ellen DeGeneres on the daytime talk show. James currently hosts The Late Late Show on CBS while Ellen hosts The Ellen DeGeneres Show on NBC. The possible shake-up comes shortly after toxic work environment claims were made against Ellen's longtime show.

Insiders at NBC say that James is seen as "the long term successor." Because of the allegations, finding a possible replacement is a possibility. "This issue has fast tracked everything and made everyone look at the future today," the insider added. "James Corden was being eyed for Ellen's job in the long term before any of this came to light."

"James and his team have been trailblazers in modern TV, taking the once considered graveyard chat show slot into a cutting edge format with huge online, social media, and global recognition," the source continued. "Replacing Ellen was always going to be a tough challenge, but he is a natural fit and easy transition. James would freshen up daytime and with a free hand would be allowed to build a new afternoon era."

In July, 10 former employees and one current employee spoke anonymously to BuzzFeed News about how the show is full of favoritism from executive producers as well as microaggressions and racism. Recently, Ellen made a statement discussing the allegations.

“Alongside Warner Bros., we immediately began an internal investigation and we are taking steps, together, to correct the issues. As we’ve grown exponentially, I’ve not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done. Clearly some didn’t. That will now change and I’m committed to ensuring this does not happen again.”
