JC Santos is going back to his first love, theater, as the hero Lam-ang in a new musical. The actor will star in Tanghalang Pilipino’s Lam-ang, a musical production of the Ilocano epic, according to ABS-CBN News. “This is my first time to play a lead role in a musical, and I'm very excited.”
It was a long process of looking for the right actor to play Lam-ang, according to ABS-CBN News. “The two directors, Fitz Bitana and Marco Viaña, had a definite image of the Lam-ang that they want,” said Fernando "Tata Nanding" Josef of Tanghalang Pilipino. “[He must be an] agile mover with a strong singing voice, exceptional dramatic skills, good, hunky physique, and 'animal appeal.' Pinoy na Pinoy, hindi mestiso. Pero ang isang importanteng edge ni JC is ang eagerness niya to do Lam-ang.”
