The latest Hollywood star to come out as a proud member of the BTS ARMY is actor-wrestler John Cena! On The Late Late Show With James Corden, he said he first became interested in them because “they were the first Korean pop band to connect fans throughout the world. Being in live entertainment, I was like, ‘Wow, that’s interesting. How did they do this?”
So he started listening to their music and their message. “It’s one of self-love and self-reflection and being confident in yourself even though you’re different.”
He said, “Not only is the choreography, the development of personalities, [and] the whole entertainment they put on spectacular, young people are listening to their music and they’re sending a good message through their music. I think that’s really cool when you have popularity and you choose to use your voice for something good. I think that’s a plus."
John was super envious of co-guest January Jones, who got to take a photo with BTS the last time they appeared on the show. When the actress said she actually had no idea who they were, fans zoned in on John’s ~silence~ and body language:
She said, “I saw that they had nine million security guards, so I was like, I better ask for a picture. I put it on Instagram and then I got… some stuff.”
John got excited thinking she meant stuff from the band—look at his face and his hands!—but she was actually talking about messages from fans. “A lot of fans were like, hands off, lady.”
John said, “You are so lucky. You are so lucky to be in that picture.” He joked, “I tried out to be their bodyguard and I didn’t even make it.”
With his sweet words, ARMY gave him a warm welcome on Twitter:
