At 33, John Lloyd Cruz reveals that he's feeling a little pressure from his mom to get married and have a kid.
PEP's Rey Pumaloy reports that the actor was recently asked about the state of his love life and he said that he's not planning to get married anytime soon. He added, "Kahit ang nanay ko rin, hindi makapaghintay (Even my mom also can't wait)."
He went on to say, "Occasionally, may kaunting pressure, especially pag ang nanay mo nagpaparinig sa iyo. Siyempre tumatanda na rin ang nanay ko...Gusto na rin niyang magkaroon ng apo galing sa akin (Occasionally, there's a little pressure, especially if it's your mom giving hints. Of course, my mom is getting older...She wants to have a grandkid from me)."
JLC also disclosed, "Umabot na nga sa punto na kahit gaano kasagrado Katoliko ang nanay ko, sinabi niya sa akin na, 'Kahit huwag ka nang mag-asawa kung ayaw mo, mag-anak ka na lang muna.' Pero wala, e. Pero ngayon, wala (My mom is a staunch Catholic but there was a point when she said, 'It doesn't matter if you don't get married, just have a kid first.' But there's nobody. Right now, there's nobody)."
When asked if he would consider his mom's suggestion of fathering a child out of wedlock, the actor replied, "Well, sana hindi. Kahit ganito ako, may pagka-ideal pa rin ako. Sana makahanap ng partner, maging asawa, at magkaroon ng pamilya (Well, I hope not. Even if I'm this way, I still have an ideal scenario in mind. I hope to find a partner, be a husband, and start a family)."
By "Ganito ako," John Lloyd is probably referring to the fact that he's been in several relationships that have been well-documented by the entertainment press. As he claims, he has yet to find The One.
Until that day comes, the only wife and kid that JLC will be going home to are fictional ones in the ABS-CBN sitcom Home Sweetie Home.
