November 13 will be an extremely special day for many people, and not just because it's a spooky Friday the 13th. Its main reason for specialness, you see, is that it will serve as the release date for both Justin Bieber's and One Direction's new albums. Though fans of both artists are approaching this date with excitement, Justin seems slightly less than impressed with the coincidence, which he doesn't really believe is a coincidence.
"I don't know if they're really going on the road much, but we're talking about them right now, so it gives them some promo, right?" he said in an interview with New Zealand radio show SMASH! The Edge. "That's probably why they did it."
In 1D's defense, the month of October was already stacked with big albums—Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and Carrie Underwood, for example—and November was getting there as well (Little Mix is set to release Get Weird the week before Justin and 1D's double whammy).
Still, Justin believes it was calculated, though he is looking forward to a bit of "friendly competition" between himself and the 1D lads. "I think it was strategy on their part, because my release date was first," he said. "But whatever. It's whatever. It's gonna be fun. I'm excited to see what happens." He must already know what's going to happen though—a full shutdown of global society and/or Twitter. Stock your apocalypse bunkers now!
