Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the MTV European Music Awards 2013.

"Take Back the Night" singer Justin has five nods for trophies at the ceremony, set to take place at Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome On November 10, for Best Male, Best Live, Best Video for "Mirrors," Best US Act, and Best Look.

Rapper Macklemore and producing partner Ryan Lewis match Justin with nominations in the Best New, Best Hip Hop, and Best World Stage categories, as well as Best US Act.

They are also nominated in the prestigious Best Song section for their huge hit "Thrift Shop."

Hot on those acts' heels, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and Robin Thicke, are all up for four awards each.

Gaga and Miley will go head-to-head for the Best Female title and, alongside Robin Thicke, all three will compete for the coveted title of Best Video.

She later said of their controversial performance: "Every VMA performance, anyone that performs...That's what you are looking for. You want to make history. Me and Robin, the whole time, said, 'You know you are about to make history right now?' "
