Following the surprising news that Kanye West has decided to cancel the rest of his Saint Pablo Tour, NBC now reports that the rapper has been hospitalized "for his own health and safety."

According to sources close to Kanye, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a medical welfare call early Monday afternoon, but when they arrived at the rapper's residence, he wasn't at home. However, TMZ reports that paramedics also responded to the call, and ultimately ended up bringing Kanye to the UCLA Medical Center via ambulance for a psychiatric evaluation.

TMZ goes on to state that Kanye was reportedly being treated for severe sleep deprivation at the hospital when a member of the medical staff declared that he needed to be admitted. As of Monday evening, he is still "under observation."

His admittance to the hospital follows an especially controversial week for Kanye: On Thursday, he declared his support for Donald Trump at a concert in San Jose, then on Saturday, went on a rant against Beyoncé, Jay Z, Hillary Clinton, and more during a show in Sacramento. Just hours before it was set to begin, Kanye also canceled his show in Los Angeles on Sunday before announcing he had canceled the rest of his U.S. tour.

Updated 11/21 at 8:00 p.m.TMZ now reports Kanye West was at his trainer's home and was "acting erratically" when police responded to the medical welfare call on Monday afternoon. Us Weekly adds that his wife, Kim Kardashian, immediately rushed to the hospital to be with her husband after she found out that he'd been admitted.

Kim was originally scheduled to make her first public appearance since last month's terrifying Paris robbery on Monday at the Angel Ball in New York City, alongside her family. The event was held in honor of her late father, Robert Kardashian.
