Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla's teleserye comeback is finally happening after four years.

The title and genre of the project were announced on September 27 on TV Patrol.

The announcement coincided with the 10th anniversary celebration of KathNiel's love team, which began in September 2011 via the youth-oriented series Growing Up.

According to KathNiel, they will top-bill a romantic-comedy series titled Too Good To Be True.

The series will be directed by Mae Cruz and will be produced by RGE Unit, headed by business unit head Rizza Gonzales-Ebriega.

Mae handled KathNiel's past movie projects Crazy Beautiful You and Can't Help Falling In Love.

It will be the first time they will work under RGE Unit, which produced the teleseryes Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit, Pamilya KoBagong Umaga, and the drama anthology Ipaglaban Mo.

A sneak peek of KathNiel's look test with Direk Mae was released after the TV Patrol announcement.

In an ABS-CBN News report, Kathryn said that the ABS-CBN executives asked them about the project they wanted to do for the love team's teleserye comeback.

She recalled,  "Tinanong kami kung ano iyong gusto naming gawing project, and sinabi namin ni DJ na gusto talaga namin gumawa ng rom-com.

"It's something light, just to give [viewers] a break and breather sa lahat ng nangyayari ngayon."

Daniel added, "Kaya masasabi itong regalo, at kaya napatagal, kasi hinanap din namin ni Kathryn at ng management kung ano ba yung proyekto na hinahanap sa amin ng fans."

It was also a personal choice for the couple to do a romantic-comedy project, after doing heavy projects on TV: the hardcore drama Pangako Sa 'Yo and the fantasy-action-drama La Luna Sangre.

In the end, Too Good To Be True was the project they chose after several concepts were pitched to them.

Daniel also thanked the show's creative and production teams for allowing them to become hands-on in terms of the creative side.

"We are very grateful and thankful kasi kami ay binibigyan ng pagkakataon na tanungin kung gusto ba namin ang proyekto na ibinibigay sa amin, at magbigay ng opiniyon doon sa script.

"Magkakatulong kami na ginawa ang script na ito. Lubos ang pasasalamat sa tiwala na binibigay sa amin."

Taping is set to commence in October, but the premiere date has yet to be announced.

Prior to Too Good To Be True, KathNiel was last seen in the digital series The House Arrest of Us aired in 2020, which is now streaming on Netflix.
