Kendall Jenner’s Vogue Ballet Video Is Getting Hate From Real-Life Ballerinas

Kendall Jenner and Vogue España are under fire for their recent collaboration involving Kendall, a pair of ballerina shoes, and a ballet studio. On September 16, the magazine released a video of Kendall prancing around a studio in a variety of outfits. She leans on a bar and talks about how she loves “being a kid” and “being around people."

But her moves are being criticized by a number of voices in the dancing community, lead by Margaret Fuhrer of Dance Spirit magazine and Abby Lee Miller of Dance Moms. “I don’t make a habit of commenting on all the dancers that post pics with incorrect technique. I would never get anything else done! But I cannot be a fan of this shoot,” Abby wrote on Instagram, according to a screenshot from The Shade Room. “There are so many amazing dancers in the world… Kendall Jenner is not one of them!” Abby goes on to shame Kendall’s mom and manager Kris Jenner and suggests that North West take lessons “before it’s too late.”

Margaret from Dance Spirit calls the video “very facepalm-y” and says that to professional dancers, Kendall’s moves read “as pretty disrespectful.” Twitter is also having quite the field day with Kendall’s video:

As The Cut points out, not everyone has been hating on Kendall. Allison DeBona, a First Soloist at Ballet West in Salt Lake City, recently defended Kendall in a Facebook post. “TO THE BALLET WORLD, it seems to me as if there is never a perfect condition for you,” she wrote. “As far as Kendall Jenner and the Vogue Espana shoot, she’s a beautiful young girl who’s job is to do what she’s asked to do. Not really sure of the reason behind it except maybe all girls dream of being a ballerina on stage and she’s in her room playing as one?”

Kendall has yet to comment on the controversy. Neither has budding dancer North West.
