Our OG crush Kim Bum is starring in a new series called Tale Of The Nine-Tailed! He plays a half-human, half-gumiho named Yi Rang. 1. He's 31 years old!
Kim Bum's birthday is on July 7, 1989. He's the eldest child in his family and he grew up in South Korea.
2. He reportedly attended Chung-Ang University.
According to some reports, Kim Bum majored in theater and film. Chung-Ang University is located in Seoul, and its famous students include Yeo Jin Goo, Park Ji Hoon, and Yoon Eun Hye.
3. Kim Bum has been acting for 15 years.
He shared this during an interview with GQ Korea. Kim Bum's early projects include Unstoppable High Kick (2006), East Of Eden (2008), and Boys Over Flowers (2009). To know more about his previous dramas, click here.
4. Once, he even went to a fan's wedding!
In a 2017 article by Soompi, Kim Bum reportedly "sent a wreathe to congratulate the couple...He went to the wedding venue in order to relay his congratulations in person. The actor took photos with the bride and groom in order to commemorate their special day." Aww!!
5. He revealed that his first kiss was at 19 years old.
When asked about his first love during an event in 2013, Kim Bum shared: "I had my first kiss when I was 19, in front of my girlfriend's house." We're loving the honesty!
6. He dated actresses Moon Geun Young and Oh Yeon Seo.
In 2013, Kim Bum dated his Goddess Of Fire co-star Moon Geun Young, but they went their separate ways in 2014. While they were still together, the two were even spotted vacationing in Europe.
News of his relationship to Oh Yeon Seo broke out in March 2018, and both their agencies confirmed their relationship. They met at a gathering with common friends! However, their agencies announced the couple's separation less than a year later, in February 2019.
7. He was discharged from the military in March 2020.
Kim Bum entered the military in April 2018 as a public service worker.
8. Kim Bum has been receiving treatment for a "hereditary illness."
This is the reason why he served as a public service worker instead of as a soldier. Part of his agency's statement in 2018 reads: "Kim Bum has been receiving continuous treatment since his early 20s due to a hereditary illness. In order to recover, he put much attention into taking care of his health through medication and exercising, but he was assigned to be a public service worker."
In a 2018 interview, Kim Bum shared: "I rested from working and went to hospitals for a long time while receiving treatment. I will be continuing to regularly go to the hospital."
9. According to Kim Bum, he's actually "blunt."
In an interview for GQ Korea, as translated by Soompi, when asked who he would want to live as for a day, Kim Bum chose his mother: "My mother always supports me, and we experienced pain together. If I get to know what that feels like, I think I'd be able to understand my mother better." He added, "I'm the oldest child, but I'm blunt, and I'm not very friendly. I'm bad at being cute and saying cheesy things."
