You guys, it's official: We are not required to wear face shields anymore (it's totally voluntary now) in areas under COVID-19 Alert Levels 1, 2, and 3. Due to the pandemic, wearing face shields on top of face masks first became mandatory for millions of Pinoys in December 2020

One specific celebrity who's happily saying goodbye to face shields is Kim Chiu, who even took to Instagram to write a special "face shield appreciation post." She shared a fan-edited collage of her wearing a face shield and wrote:

"Salamat sa lahat ng pinagsamahan natin, almost two years din tayong mag-ON, masaya ako na dumating ka sa buhay ko kahit minsan naiinis nako sa'yo pero wala akong narinig na reklamo mula sa'yo, salamat sa pag-protekta sa'kin sa mga bagay na kinakatakutan ko. Ikaw pa nga ang unang humaharap. Masaya ako na nakilala kita face to face. Mami-miss kita, pero I think its about time to let go!!!! Ingat ka ha?? Wag ka na [babalik]. Salamat na lang sa lahat. Move on na tayo!" She added the hashtag #SalamatFaceShield. LOL, Kim!

Throughout the year, the It's Showtime hosts and Kim have made hilarious jokes about the face shield requirement in the Philippines, with Vice Ganda even throwing his face shield to the ground in January 2021.

The use of face shields will remain mandatory in hospitals, quarantine facilities, and by healthcare workers in healthcare settings.
