Kit Thompson has just reached another milestone in his career. He won the Best Actor award at the 54th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival!
The actor-model was recognized for his role in the 2019 iWant original movie Belle Douleur, co-starring Mylene Dizon. The movie's title, which means "beautiful pain" in English, is about a 45-year-old psychologist (played by Mylene) who develops a relationship with a 20-year-old musician (played by Kit).
"I honestly didn’t think I’d win Best Actor," Kit shared on Instagram. "I was already happy when I found out I was nominated for Best Actor."
Kit thanked Belle Douleur's director Joji Alonso for allowing him to be a part of the filmmaker's very first feature film, as well as the movie's entire crew.
He also gave a special shoutout to Mylene. "Also, to my partner @missmylenedizon for guiding me, I wouldn’t have done it without you."
"@worldfesthouston, thank you for gracing me with this award."
Thompson beat the two other nominees from Japan, Hideyuki Kawahara and Yuh Kamiya, for their performances in the movie Sin-Gone Irony.
Mylene was similarly nominated for Best Actress for Belle Douleur but was bested by Japanese actress Nao Hasegawa for her role in Beautiful Lure.
Kit's last TV show was the revenge drama series La Vida Lena with Erich Gonzales, Carlo Aquino, and JC De Vera.
