Traveling backwardand forwardin time has always fascinated audiences. There are multiple films about time travel out there, where characters use different kinds of time machines. It could be a necklace (the Time-Turner from Harry Potter), a car (DeLorean from Back To The Future), and even a telephone booth (the TARDIS from Doctor Who)! And while Western time travel stories mostly focus on sci-fi, Korean dramas never fail to give it a romantic twist!

1. Queen In Hyun's Man (2012) 

The stars: Ji Hyun Woo and Yoo In Na

The sitch: In the year 1694, during the Joseon Dynasty, a noble-born scholar (his family's sole survivor after a bloody massacre) supports the reinstatement of Queen In-hyun, who was deposed due to a jealous royal concubine's schemes. In 2012, an ~unsuccessful~ actress lands her big break when she is cast as Queen In-hyun in a television drama! Due to a mysterious talisman, the scholar time travels to 2012, where he crosses paths with the actress. They, of course, fall in love!

The stars: Lee Min Ho and Kim Hee Sun

The sitch: In this thrilling fantasy, Lee Min Ho stars as an elite warrior in 1300s Korea who travels to the 21st century to find a doctor capable of healing the queen. For some reason, he ends up meeting a popular plastic surgeon with "godlike abilities." When she refuses to believe his outlandish story, he kidnaps her and drags her back to the past to save the queen!

The sitch: A Korean university art history lecturer discovers the mysterious long-lost diary of a historical figure named Saimdang. Through the diary, she unravels the secret behind an ancient painting and discovers more about Saimdang, who was a renowned poet and artist during the Joseon era.

8. Somehow 18 (2017) 

The stars: Choi Minho and Lee Yoo Bi

The sitch: Oh Kyung Hwi (Choi Minho) is a successful, confident doctor of pediatrics at one of Korea's biggest hospitals. But back when he was an 18-year-old kid, he was bullied A LOT. His rescuer, a school transferee named Han Na Bi (Lee Yoo Bi), helps him out of his depression but later takes her own life because of her own issues. Many years later, a mysterious incident gives Kyung Hwi a chance to save his first love and change the course of their love story.
