Kristel Fulgar just recorded her first original Korean song for a web drama, and the sound is super ~dreamy~. It's actually a duet with Yohan Kim, also known as "Big Boss"! The Kapamilya singer and actress uploaded a video on her YouTube channel to talk about the project, which she says is a dream come true.
ICYDK, Kristel and Yohan first met in October 2018 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport while on their way to South Korea. Yohan is the CEO of a Korean skincare and cosmetics brand. At the time, Kristel was one of the influencers invited to the brand's event in Nami Island. Since then, netizens couldn't help but ship the two, especially since Yohan would occasionally appear on Kristel's social media posts. Kristel even had a sweet surprise for Yohan's birthday in November 2020!
"Dati kino-cover ko lang mga Korean OST, ngayon magkakaroon na ‘ko ng original na OST ng isang web drama so I’m so happy," Kristel shared.
The song, entitled "Smile Again," will be part of the soundtrack of Love From Home, a Filipino-Korean web drama by One Click TV (OC TV).
"Sobrang excited ako and itong song na ‘to prinoduce ng Korean artist din, sa Korea nag-compose and nag-arrange."
"Smile Again" was composed by producer and rapper Mathi, who also worked on songs for other web dramas like My ID Is Gangnam Beauty and Love Forecast. Mathi has also worked with Kristel the OST of Luv Express, a web series that Kristel wrote and directed.
Kristel recorded her part of the duet in the Philippines while Yohan recorded his in South Korea, where the song will be mixed and mastered.
"Kasi yung title nito ay ‘Smile Again.’ So happy song siya na may good vibes lang, nakakakilig," Kristel described.
Yohan, on the other hand, described the song as "about the emotions when you are in love and your lover’s smile can make your day, every day, happy." Aww.
Until travel restrictions are relaxed, Kristel says her fans can expect her to keep working on projects that can be done simultaneously in the Philippines and in South Korea.
"Dahil nga hindi pa ako makapunta sa Korea, medyo yung mga possible projects na puwedeng ma-push dito, 'yon yung ginagawa namin. Pero once maging okay na yung pag-travel and mawala na yung coronavirus, yung COVID-19, mas marami silang puwedeng i-look forward sa mga projects na gagawin namin."
