#KDramaTrivia: Ku Hye Sun Broke Up With A Boyfriend Because Of 'Boys Over Flowers'

She explained what happened in a recent variety show guesting.

Contrary to what you might think, acting isn't all glitz and glamor. Most of the time actors have to pull an all-nighter, or even work past sunrise just to finish their scenes for the day. It's even worse when they find themselves filming in a remote area where there's barely any signal for their phones.

The experience is all the same even for well-known stars. Take Boys Over Flowers lead Ku Hye Sun, for example, who had to experience heartbreak while shooting for the hit series.

The actress, best known for her role in BOF as the spunky Geum Jan Di, recently revealed the unfortunate story on the Korean variety show, The Manager. The guesting marked her first appearance since her divorce from her ex-husband and fellow actor Ahn Jae Hyun

Hye Sun explained that the cast flew to New Caledonia in France to shoot the beach vacation scenes for the series. Despite their gorgeous view, the actress' phone couldn't get much reception around the area. "I had a boyfriend back then, and he couldn't get in touch with me," Hye Sun recounted. "But he didn't believe me when I said that I didn't have reception there. He thought it was an excuse. So we broke up." Ouch!

Hye Sun's behind-the-scenes stories from Boys Over Flowers didn't stop there, though. On the same show, the now 36-year-old also admitted that she suffered a concussion while filming for the series, particularly when she had to fall backwards into a swimming pool. She had to keep the show running, of course, and marched on filming in spite of what happened.

"If I didn't immediately continue filming, the drama wouldn't be able to air on schedule," explained Hye Sun "So I pushed myself to keep filming. Then, about a week later, I started feeling nauseated and dizzy. I eventually ended up fainting during filming and going to the hospital." Yikes!

She thankfully recovered from the incident and went on to see BOF's eventual success as a cult classic K-drama.
