Lili Reinhart is speaking out against the “toxicity of this industry” when it comes to body image amid Kim Kardashian’s controversial remarks about fitting into Marilyn Monroe’s dress at the 2022 Met Gala.
Per E! News, Lili wrote the following on her Instagram Stories:
“To walk on a red carpet and do an interview where you say how starving you are...because you haven’t eaten carbs in the last month...all to fit in a fucking dress? So wrong. So fucked on 100s of levels.”
She reportedly added, “To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala. When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is otherworldly disgusting.”
Lili ended her post with: “Please stop supporting these stupid, harmful celebrities whose entire image revolves around their bodies. I am not generally an angry person but I swear to god, the toxicity of this industry sometimes really gets to me.”
Her comments come after Kim gave an interview to Vogue about what it took to fit into Marilyn’s dress, saying, “It was this or nothing.” Kim’s remarks have been widely criticized for promoting dangerous weight loss as well as unrealistic body image standards to her incredibly large audience. Thus far, Kim hasn’t spoken out about the backlash.
