What's better than rewatching films starring your favorite love teams? Seeing them in new films (and teleseryes) together! There's that special rush you get when you see them in reunion projects, realizing how they've "grown up," and looking on like a proud parent as they take on more mature roles.
So, here are three love teams from the '90s who have worked on reunion films together:
Jolina Magdangal And Marvin Agustin
Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal, also known as MarJo, was one of the most beloved love teams in the '90s! Below is the trailer for their iconic film, Labs Kita... Okay Ka Lang?, which was released in 1998. It told the story of Bujoy (Jolina) who secretly had feelings for her childhood best friend, Ned (Marvin).
In March 2019, the two announced that they'll be starring in a reunion film soon! While fans initially speculated that it might be a sequel to Labs Kita... Okay Ka Lang? director Dan Villegas announced that it will be an original story about the "wreckage of a relationship." While we're waiting for a teaser + more updates, let's relive this interview from 2014, where Jolina talked about the time she said "I love you" to Marvin when they were teenagers and he didn't say it back! Ouch.
Dawn Zulueta And Richard Gomez
Back in the late '80s and '90s, Dawn Zulueta and Richard Gomez were a reel and real-life couple! They even had a ship name: CharDawn. The two starred in films such as Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit (1991), Iisa Pa Lamang (1992), and Akin Ang Pangarap Mo (1992).
CharDawn already had a mini-reunion when they were cast in the teleserye Walang Hanggan in 2012. They had cameo appearances in the 2014 film She's Dating The Gangster as the older versions of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. They also played parents and a married couple in the 2015 TV series You're My Home.
For their 2015 reunion film, The Love Affair, Richard played Vince, a loving husband who is trying to come to terms with the realization that his wife Patricia (Dawn) cheated on him.
Angelica Panganiban And Carlo Aquino
Admit it: Angelica Panganiban and Carlo Aquino were already one of the cutest love teams back then! They both starred in the teen-oriented show G-mik (which first aired in 1999) as Jelai and Jun-Jun, and were part of the Ang Tanging Ina (2003) and Mano Po III: My Love (2004) cast.
Here, enjoy this throwback vid from their G-mik days:
Their latest film Exes Baggage (2018) was directed by Dan Villegas and told the story of Nix (Carlo) and Pia (Angelica), two years after their break up. CarGel went on to play romantic roles in the ongoing daytime TV series Playhouse. With their latest projects, fans hoped that Carlo and Angelica would get back together. Sadly, it didn't happen (our hearts are still not okay).
