Lovi Poe is gearing up for a host of new projects in the coming months.
The actress, model, and recording artist just moved to ABS-CBN, plus, she's set to star in the international movie The Chelsea Cowboy, which stars Alex Pettyfer and Poppy Delevigne. One of the film's executive producers is Idris Elba.
During the press conference welcoming Lovi as a Kapamilya, Lovi responded to questions about how she landed the role in the film. As it turns out, she got the job in a really simple way.
"One of the producers and the writer of The Chelsea Cowboy reached out to my management and asked me to read for the part," Lovi revealed. "It was as simple as that. I read for the part, forgot about it, and then a few weeks after, it happened! So I'm just so happy. I just feel so blessed and I'm really looking forward to that."
Wow. In case you haven't heard, Lovi will be portraying the role of '70s it-girl and British rock and blues singer, Dana Gillespie, who hires gangster-turned-actor John Bindon (played by Alex) as a security aide.
Lovi shared how she's been preparing for the role since she'll be playing a different nationality.
"I do have a dialect coach as well because I'll be playing a different accent and all, so that’s something to look forward to," she told the media. "Just trying to make sure that I get there prepared."
"Aside from making sure I'm fully aware of who I'm playing—of course, it's Miss Dana Gillespie—and I will do my best talaga na bigyan ng hustisya because she's one rockstar, she's an icon."
Lovi is scheduled to start filming for The Chelsea Cowboy in October 2021.
"The fact na binigyan ako ng opportunity na makasama sila ay talagang kinakabahan ako. It's something that I've always been wanting to do and now, it's going to happen next month."
Congrats, Lovi!
