Manny Pacquiao Apologizes For Controversial LGBT Remarks

But still stands against same-sex marriage.

World boxing champion Manny Pacquiao has apologized to gay fans for any offense he caused with his stance on same sex marriage in a recent interview.

The devout Catholic, who is campaigning for a Senate seat in the May 2016 elections, hit headlines when he suggested homosexuals should seek guidance from the animal kingdom regarding same sex marriage.

"Woman was made for man, man was made for woman. It's common sense," the fighter said. "Will you see any animals where male is to male and female is to female? The animals are better. They know how to distinguish, male or female. If we approve male on male, female on female, then man is worse than animal."

His remarks upset gay rights activists, and now Pacquiao has apologized, stating, "I'm sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I've hurt."

But he added, "I still stand [by] my belief that I'm against same sex marriage because of what the Bible says, but I'm not condemning LGBT. I love you all with the love of the Lord. God Bless you all and I'm praying for you."
