Host, model, and blogger Mari Jasmine talked about sexuality labels in a recent Instagram Story. “Labels are what humans use to understand / navigate their experiences and the world around them. Just because they exist, it doesn’t mean that you have to fit into a category or identify with a particular label. You also don’t need to understand someone’s identity in order to respect it.”
She posted the IG Story along with a quote from actor Lucas Hedges: “I recognize myself as existing on a spectrum: Not totally straight, but also not gay and not necessarily bisexual.”
In July, Mari publicly shared her relationship with director Samantha Lee in an Instagram post, saying that she has had “the privilege of being in love with both men and women.” Not long after, her ex-boyfriend Sam Milby said he was surprised to hear about the relationship but that they are on good terms. The actor said in a press con, “We're friends. If that's where she's happy, I'm happy for her. No bitterness in that sense.”
