It seems that some people have been creating tension between Maine Mendoza and Marian Rivera. Recently, some supporters of Maine complained to talent manager Rams David about Marian receiving the EdukCircle award for Most Influential Female Endorser, saying that the judges were wrong and that the Daddy’s Gurl actress should have won instead. These fans were speculating that the management was preferring one talent over another, thus trying to start an issue among the people involved.
Maine and Marian finally set the record straight between them on Friday, October 19, when they attended the press conference of a skincare product they’re both endorsing. Marian said that she and Maine are like sisters, adding, “Dapat ang mga babae nagtutulungan. Hindi ganyan, parang crab mentality.”
Maine revealed that she goes to Marian for advice on how to deal with showbiz and life in general. She added that she appreciates Marian for always being there for her when she needs someone to talk to. Pero sa kanya, talagang naa-appreciate ko ‘yun,” Maine said as she gestured scrolling through a long thread of messages, alluding to her conversations with the 34-year-old mom.
Between the two actresses, Marian naturally takes the role of the ate, even being called ate by Maine. At the press con, Marian also shared the nuggets of wisdom that she tells the 23-year-old. Talagang Mag-gi-give up ka.
At a separate interview after the press con panel, Maine laughs when asked if she indeed has many suitors. “Hindi naman, mga 54, ganun!” she replied. She added that she appreciates Marian’s straightforwardness.
The two met for the first time at a GMA thanksgiving party in February 2016. If their sisterly love isn’t proof that these two are solid, we don’t know what is.
