1 Philippine Miss Universe 2016 bet Maxine Medina finished as one of the Top 6 finalists during yesterday’s 65th Miss Universe competition. But Maxine received social media backlash when she opted to speak in English during the pageant’s question and answer roundeven though she had an interpreter relay the question in Tagalog. ‘Let’s move on. It’s already done,’ she quipped when asked about the issue during a post-pageant interview. (ABS-CBN)

2 ICYDK, Miss Universe 2016 first runner-up Raquel Pelissier of Haiti is of Filipino descent! The graduate student revealed in an interview that she hopes to be more connected to her Pinoy roots on her mother’s side: “Before coming here in the Philippines, I was really excited because from my mom’s side, I have Filipino blood, and since I was little, they used to tell me that I never lived with that side of the family, but I’m interested in learning about the culture and that’s why I’m happy to be here.” (GMA Network)
