Megan Young Celebrated Her 30th Birthday With A Low-Key Filipino Birthday Lunch With Mikael Daez

While some people love celebrating their birthday with a bang, Megan Young went the opposite way and had a low-key Filipino lunch with husband Mikael Daez.

On Instagram, Megan shared: “Decided to have birthday lunch with [Mikael] [at] one of our favorite restaurants.”

Megan and Mikael dined at Gubat, a Filipino restaurant located at the Diliman Bonsai Society along C.P. Garcia Avenue in Quezon City. The open-air restaurant that is surrounded by bonsai plants serves up Filipino fare like their must-try lechon kawali, fried fish, and adobo which are served with a cup of white rice, pako leaves, itlog na maalat, and half a tomato. The catch? The food is served on banana leaves minus the utensils.

Megan, who turned 30 on February 27, continued, “What I love about this place is that there are no utensils—magkakamay ka lang.”

Megan and Mikael ordered adobo, fish, two orders of lechon kawali with buro on the side. The actress called the latter “the best thing ever.”

“Thank you to all the lovely ladies of Gubat who always have such a bright aura and who bring happiness to everyone that enjoys their meal at the restaurant,” Megan added.

Megan and Mikael got married in January 2020 with two low-key ceremonies: one on January 10 with their closest loved ones, and another ceremony on January 25 in Subic.
