Meghan Markle is sitting down with Oprah in a tell-all interview about her time in the royal family, and she's revealing plenty of behind-the-scenes secrets, including that she and Prince Harry were already married when she walked down the aisle at her royal wedding.
She told Oprah that she and Harry were actually married by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby three days before the Windsor Castle ceremony that dominated headlines. She and Harry tied the knot in their secret wedding in their backyard.
This intel had never come to light before Meghan's interview. Another thing that hadn't come to light is Meghan saying that Kate Middleton made her cry ahead of her public wedding. There were rumors Meghan made Kate cry over Princess Charlotte's flower girl dress, but Meghan told Oprah that it was actually the reverse.
Meghan told Oprah that "the reverse happened," adding "I don't say that to be disparaging to anyone because it was a really hard week of the wedding and she was upset about something." She added that Kate "owned it and she apologized," and that she "brought me flowers."
"A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something. Yes the issue was correct about flower girl dresses." Meghan then added that "She made me cry and it really hurt my feelings.... I thought in the context of everything else going on in the days before the wedding, didn't it make sense to do what everyone else was doing knowing what was going on with my dad and whatnot."
The palace was reportedly concerned going into the interview about what Meghan might say about Kate specifically, though reports say the royal family is not tuning into the interview. Despite that, Prince William and Kate are apparently upset about the tell-all.
