Out With Mikimoto, In With Mouawad: Miss Universe Organization Announces A New Crown Provider

The new crown will debut at the 68th Miss Universe pageant!

The next winner of Miss Universe 2019 will be given a new crown made by luxury jeweler Mouawad.

In a Facebook post, the Miss Universe Organization announced that Mouawad is now the official crown sponsor for the beauty pageant. The new crown, which will be called the Miss Universe Diamond Crown, will make its debut at the 68th Miss Universe competition.

Mouawad’s elegant pieces have been worn by celebrities like Christina Aguilera, Kendall Jenner, and Gigi Hadid. The company, which is headquartered in Switzerland and Dubai, has also collaborated with Victoria’s Secret since 2001.

Previously, Miss Universe used the Mikimoto crown from 2002 to 2007, and again in 2017 when France’s Iris Mittenaere won the prestigious title. Other beauty queens who had the opportunity to wear the crown include Russia’s Oxana Federova, Japan’s Riyo Mori, and most recently, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray

The Miss Universe pageant has a long history of crowns since it started in 1952. Crowns include The New Miss Crown designed by Sarah Coventry, a Vietnamese Miss Universe crown used in 2008, the Peace Crown by Diamond Nexus Labs used from 2009 to 2013, and the Diamonds International Corporation Crown used from 2014 to 2016 which was worn by Pia Wurtzbach when she won the title in 2015.
