The family-oriented film, which stars Aga Muhlach, Xia Vigor, Bela Padilla, JC Santos, Jojit Lorenzo, Soliman Cruz, Joel Torre, and Mon Confiado, looks like it did well during the opening day of the MMFF.
On Instagram, Viva Films shared several posts that the film has sold out in most Metro Manila cinemas:
Aga, who is the film's star and plays protagonist Lito, also shared his surprise at the success of the film. The actor took to Instagram as he posted the overwhelming support that the film has received on the first day of its screening.
Bela, who plays the adult Yesha, took to Instagram Stories as she reported that the film achieved sold-out screenings. In another post, the actress wrote, “The lines for Miracle in Cell No. 7 are insane.”
Miracle in Cell No. 7 tells the story of a mentally-ill man who is wrongfully accused of sexually assaulting and murdering a little girl. While in prison, he befriends his fellow inmates and they devise a plan to smuggle his young daughter inside the cell. Years later, his daughter becomes a lawyer who is determined to prove her father’s innocence.
In a video clip that shows the behind-the-scenes footage of Miracle In Cell No. 7, several of the cast members shared their thoughts on the film’s story.
Bela said, “I miss this kind of film. Yung may kirot sa puso pero may matututunan ka. Yung nakangiti ka habang umiiyak kasi alam mo yun, heartwarming.”
Jojit added, “It’s about human kindness, it’s a lighthearted na pelikula and ang positive ng mensahe ng pelikula.”
Soliman said, “Para sa mga bata maganda ito kasi magkakaroon sila ng konsepto ng hustisya.”
