The highly anticipated Miss International 2022 coronation night was finally held at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Japan yesterday, December 13, where our very own Hannah Arnold finished in the Top 15. It was Germany’s Jasmin Selberg who bested 65 candidates for the Miss International crown after her predecessor, Miss International 2019 Bint Sireethorn Leearamwat, reigned for *three years* due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

1. She's a university student.
The 22-year-old beauty queen surely knows how to balance school and pageantry. In fact, she's currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in history and philosophy where she focuses on genocide research in historical sciences. Aside from her educational achievements, she also has an impressive background in sales and marketing. Wow!
2. She knows how to speak four languages.
Jasmin knows how to speak German, English, Estonian, and Korean. Because of this, she worked as an interpreter who translates German reality TV shows into different languages.
3. Miss International was not her first foray into pageantry.
Prior to winning the Miss International crown, Jasmin has already joined several pageants. In 2021, she represented Germany at the Miss Globe competition where she finished in the Top 15. She then joined three more pageants in 2022—Miss Universe Germany, Miss Supranational, and Miss International.
4. She established a community for beauty queens.
In January this year, Jasmin founded Queens Raising Awareness, which is an international community whose goal is to collaborate with beauty queens around the world to “raise awareness around environmental and social topics.”
5. She’s the first to wear the new Miss International crown.
ICYDK, Miss International just launched their new sakura-themed crown created by Vietnamese luxury jewelry maker Long Beach Pearl. According to the organization, the new crown symbolizes “Japan’s well-loved icon that blooms during springtime,” which is also a “representation of resilience and beauty.”
