Tania Dawson, who is representing New Zealand in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant, made time to go to Pangasinan before the official start of her activities as a Miss U contestant. The Miss Universe pageant coronation will be on January 30, 2017, but contestants are already in the country to prepare for other pageant-related activities like fashion shows in Vigan and Davao.
Dawson happens to be half-Filipino. She credits her Pinay mom for encouraging her to join beauty pageants.
"My mother spent years encouraging me to [join beauty contests]. I thought I'd give it a go and next thing you know, I was enjoying them," Dawson said in a Stuff.co.nz feaure.
"The 25-year-old music and drama teacher spent a day with her relatives at Urdaneta Garden Resort," reports PEP.
Dawson shared her photo with her relatives on her Instagram page.
