Netflix's Top 10 Most Watched feature is a handy way to gauge what titles are most popular in your country. But more often than not, international titles like Hollywood blockbusters and top-rating Korean dramas reign supreme here in the Philippines. That's why it was quite a pleasant surprise when I noticed that three of the 10 titles on Netflix right now are proudly Pinoy films! As of writing, these are the three local movies in Netflix's Top 10 Most Watched list: Through Night And Day (2), Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap (6), and On Vodka, Beers And Regrets (8).
Wonder why Pinoys can't get enough of these films? Here's a quick rundown of what you need to know about them:
Through Night And Day (2018)
This heartfelt romantic flick follows the story of longtime couple Ben (Paolo) and Jen (Alessandra) who've been together for 13 years. After getting engaged, they take their dream vacation to Iceland where they discover more about each other and question if they really are meant to be together after all these years. *sighs*
Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap (2018)
Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap is a comedic riot where three smalltime thieves plot out the biggest heist of their careers. I won't give out too much 'cause this film is best enjoyed while being surprised! Trust me on this.
On Vodka, Beers And Regrets (2020)
This feelsy drama is about struggling actress Jane (Bela) who takes refuge in alcohol because of her crumbling career and abusive relationship with her boyfriend. She then meets and finds solace in Francis (JC), an aspiring musician who happens to have had a huge crush on Jane while they were in high school.
If you're wondering what other titles are on the current Top 10 list, here you go: The Old Guard (1), Through Night And Day (2), Train To Busan (3), It's Okay To Not Be Okay (4), Girl From Nowhere (5), Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap (6), The Maid (7), On Vodka, Beers And Regrets (8), Your Name (9), and Little Women (10).
