Opening Date: August 7
Why you should watch it: It’s been three years since the first Percy Jackson film came out (Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief), so we’re curious to see how this sequel will turn out. We also find Logan Lerman adorable.

The Smurfs 2

Opening Date: August 7
Why you should watch it: Anything Neil Patrick Harris stars in is bound to be awesome. Plus, these blue little creatures are actually really cute!

Why you should watch it: You don’t have to be a fan of the book series to enjoy this movie. The action-fantasy-adventure film follows the adventures of Clary Fray (Lily Collins) as she embarks on her newfound identity as a Shadowhunter.

Planes

Opening Date: August 21
Why you should watch it: Treat your little sister, brother, niece, or nephew to a movie date. Diney’s Planes looks very promising.

The Conjuring

Opening Date: August 21
Why you should watch it: Chances are we’ll only end up watching 30% of the movie (the rest of the time will be spent covering our eyes and/or cuddling up to our boyfriends), but hey, we have to face our fear sometime right?
