2021 marked the return of second gen K-pop boy group SHINee. Known for their best-in-class live vocals and slick dance moves, the group's highly addictive songs, talent, and down-to-earth personalities have cemented unwavering fan support through the years.

The boys kicked off their 2021 comeback with the release of their seventh studio album Don't Call Me in February. This was followed by an influx of digital content, an online concert, and a repackaged version of the album, Atlantis, that fueled fan feels to an all-time high.

Taemin's military enlistment followed in May, putting group activities on hold. Though it will take some time to see them together again, we're excited to see Onew, Key, and Minho shine in their solo actives slated this year. Here's a list of shows and movies to usher in SHINee feels as we wait with bated breath for the group's next comeback.

Early Projects

1. To The Beautiful You (2012)

Where to watch it: Amazon Prime

The plot: Things aren't looking up for Goo Jae Hee (Sulli), a Korean student based in the US. As she inches towards dropping out, high jump athlete Kang Tae Joon (Minho) catches her attention on TV. Jae Hee transforms into a superfan at first sight and is inspired by her newfound idol to engage in sports and stand up against the school bullies who constantly pick on her. She eventually transfers to Korea and is granted the opportunity to attend Tae Joon's school, Genie High. It all sounds too good to be true, hence the catch: Tae Joon attends an all-boys high school. What follows is a classic gender bender exploding with feels tied to young love and friendship.

2. Descendants Of The Sun (2016)

Where to watch it: Netflix, iQiyi, Viu

The plot: Hit drama Descendants Of The Sun revolves around the love story of special forces captain Yoo Si Jin (Song Joong Ki) and surgeon Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye Kyo). Pulled away from each other by the demands of their very different careers, fate unites them and makes them realize that they are both fighting on the same side.

Witness Onew showcase his acting chops as resident doctor Lee Chi Hoon. We guarantee that his emotional scenes in this drama will tug on your heartstrings!

Recent Projects

3. Hit And Run Squad (2019)

Where to watch it: Amazon Prime

The plot: Police deputy Eun Si Yeon (Gong Hyo Jin) gets demoted to a hit-and-run task force after an investigation tied to convicting uncontrollable businessman and F1 driver, Jung Jae Chul (Jo Jung Suk) goes south. Determined to finish what she started, Si Yeon struggles to inch her way to gathering the evidence needed to bring Jae Chul down. SHINee's Key plays Dong Soo, a tow truck driver who makes an appearance after every hit-and-run operation.

4. The Battle Of Jangsari (2019)

Where to watch it: Amazon Prime

The plot: Action blockbuster The Battle Of Jangsari is based on the true story of 772 student soldiers who participated in the Jangsari beach diversion mission—a critical operation that supported Korea's success in the Battle of Incheon during the Korean War.

Minho steps up as squad commander Choi Sung Pil and is joined by a stellar cast, which includes Kim Myung Min (Law School), Kim Sung Cheol (Prison Playbook), and Lee Jae Wook (Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol), among others. Hollywood actress Megan Fox joins the team as American journalist Marguerite Higgins.

5. SHINee Inc. (2021)

Where to watch it: Viu

The plot: Onew, Key, Minho, and Taemin take on dual roles as they play fictional entertainment agency characters and their idol selves in the variety show SHINee Inc. The show begins by setting the stage for SHINee Inc., an entertainment company located in the heart of Eulji-Ro, the Mecca of Korea's manufacturing industry. Characters are then introduced one by one: intern Hyuk Soon (Kwon Hyuk Soo), assistant manager Lee Jin Ki (Onew), team managers Kim Ki Bum (Key) and Mino Choi (Minho), company director Lee Taeman (Taemin), and CEO Hong (Hong Hyun Hee).

After a hiatus of three years, the company's only artist, SHINee, has been slated for a comeback. With the company's existence hinging on the idol group's success, the team is tasked with coming up with creative concepts to ensure comeback glory. From ideas that involve creating addictive songs that put a twist on SHINee classic hits, showcasing unreleased behind-the-scenes footage from the groups early years, engaging in a basketball challenge, and creating hot content by collaborating with hip content creators, the show takes the audience on an adventure that celebrates all things SHINee.

Upcoming Projects

6. Yumi's Cells (airing in the second half of 2021)

The plot: Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, Yumi's Cells tells the story of an office worker in her 30s from the POV of the brain cells controlling her thoughts, actions, and feelings. The anticipated drama stars Kim Go Eun as Yumi, an ordinary girl who finds herself nursing the emotional blow caused by a failed relationship that leaves her love cells in a coma. She goes through her ordinary life unaware of the situation while her other cells work hard (in panic mode) to rectify the situation. Ahn Bo Hyun brings on the *kilig* as game developer Goo Wong, who unexpectedly charms his way into Yumi's life.

Minho makes a special appearance in Yumi's Cells as fan-favorite Chae Woo Gi, Yumi's handsome and caring hoobae (junior colleague). The drama is infused with animated scenes and promises to serve a fresh yet relatable viewer experience that stays true to the well-loved webtoon.
