A few weeks ago Netflix dropped it's new true crime docu-series, Unsolved Mysteries, which explores a different unresolved case in each of the six episodes, ranging from unexplained deaths and disappearances to reported UFO abductions in Massachusetts in 1969.
In the few weeks it's been out the show has sparked tips in the Rey Rivera case, along with that some odd information about Rivera's computers has come to light, and the FBI has exhumed the body of Alonzo Brooks and reopened the case into his death. All in, the show seems to be living up to its aim of working to solve the cases. Now fans of the show are keen to discover when the second season will land on Netflix, since we know that 12 episodes were filmed and only six have been aired.
Here's everything we know about the second season of Unsolved Mysteries.
Is there going to be a season 2 of Unsolved Mysteries?
There most certainly is! Before season one even landed, Netflix had confirmed a second was in development. And we know it's certain because Netflix ordered 12 episodes of the show in one go and simply split them into seasons of six. So we know another season of equal size is filmed and presumably almost ready.
What do we know about season 2 of Unsolved Mysteries?
One thing we know about season two is that it branches out further than season 1, with at least two episodes filmed outside of the US. Show co-creator Terry Dunn Meurer told The New York Post, "right now we're tracking cases in Brazil," he continued. "Netflix is the perfect place—we can produce international stories and can also reach out to a worldwide audience to try and solve mysteries in different countries."
In the first season, only the case of the de Ligonnès family of Nantes, France, explored a case outside the US.
When can we expect Unsolved Mysteries season 2?
Reddit is absolutely full of discussions as to when the second season will air, with lots of unsubstantiated theories that we can expect it in October.
The website for the show confirms that the second season will be coming in 2020 and since Netflix often leaves a delay of roughly three to six months between split seasons it would follow that the earliest we can expect season 2 would be October, since the first came in July. But, as ever, all we can do is wait...
Meanwhile, if you have already stormed through all the episodes in season 1, Netflix has just dropped a load more unseen clips and evidence to a public Google Drive so you can do a bit of detective work yourself.
