ICYMI, Liza Soberano and James Reid were recently spotted attending several events together in Los Angeles, such as Gold House’s first Annual Gold Gala and the Asia Society Southern California 2022 Annual Gala. This led fans to speculate that the two were working together on a future collaboration. However, in his latest YouTube vlog Liza's long-time talent manager Ogie Diaz revealed that the actress has decided to join James and his team in the United States to pursue opportunities abroad.
After working together for 11 years, Ogie said *legally speaking* he is still Liza's manager until May 31, 2022. He recalls a Zoom meeting with Liza and her tita Joni, where he asked the actress if she wished to renew her contract with him. After taking time to think about it, Liza shared her thoughts with Ogie through a long Viber message.
Ogie says he prioritizes his friendship with his talents because of all the time they spent together.
Ogie only had good words to say about his relationship with Liza, and how she brought good fortune to his life—especially in terms of the life of his daughter Miracle. So when Liza told Ogie that she wanted to manage herself—to learn what she truly likes, to find her branding, or even do a possible rebranding, he let her go.
Ogie's last piece of advice to Liza was, "Anak, 'pag may problema ka, 'pag meron kang kailangan, pag meron kang gustong malaman, pag meron kang itatanong na hindi mo alam ang sagot, andito lang ako. Alam mo kung saan mo akong kokontakin." Liza's reply? "Opo, Tito Ogie. Alam ko naman na lagi kang nandiyan for me."
James Reid's team has worked at renewing some endorsement contracts where Ogie is still listed, however they are now the signatory.
Ogie also confirmed that it is James specifically who'll be managing Liza—he is also the signatory in all of Liza's contracts. "Yes, as a manager si James Reid. Ogie said as far as he's concerned (and as a manager), Liza no longer has a contract with ABS-CBN, Star Cinema, and Star Magic. Her Star Magic contract expired, but in fairness to Liza, Ogie said she told him if she ever does a teleserye, she'll still do it under ABS-CBN.
When asked about LizQuen's next project together, Ogie shared that initially, they were scared about the pandemic. There were a lot of storyline pitches for the couple, but they still haven't found one that felt like the 'right timing' for LizQuen. They're also busy with their business, but Liza and Enrique Gil haven't forgotten their fans who are patiently waiting for a LizQuen reunion.
